The 32-year-old male victim was taken to an area health care center on Tuesday, April 2 for a general illness, according to county police.
Upon seeing the severity of the victim’s condition, hospital staff contacted the police. The investigation revealed the victim was in the care of a family member, identified as Katherine Thompson, 68, of Fisher Avenue in Woodbridge, who had been failing to provide adequate care for the victim.
During the investigation, a search warrant was executed at Thompson's apartment, where detectives determined the neglect had been going on for an extended amount of time, according to police.
Following the investigation, Thompson was charged with felony neglect of a vulnerable adult and held on $5,000 bond.
